Assignment3A: Entrepreneurship Story

Part-taking in the Innovation academy and Catalyst last year has really been my first experience with entrepreneurship. Throughout my time in IA, I have created a biodegradable condom and a child’s puzzle that teaches braille.  I never considered myself to be a creative person until I took creativity in context and invented a biodegradable condom. Throughout the process I learned the importance of product research and interviewing experts. I interviewed an environmental sciences student studying at University of Florida, when prompted with the prototype he was immediately intrigued and really endorsed Bee Safe as a whole concept. We had to look into better alternatives for the environment because the chemicals and parabens put into condoms make them very hard to break-down, we also had to research alternatives, like lambskin condoms but those can be off-putting. I created the idea, logo, branding, and poster. My team and I presented the prototype and business model at Catalyst, earning us the people’s choice award and teaching us a lot about what it is like to create a start-up company. I hope that ENT3003 will foster that knowledge and hopefully find a connection to my neuropsychology major.
