22A – Elevator Pitch No. 3

https://youtu.be/uyVQ_RniPs8 Reflection: What surprised me most was that it had not occurred to me the simultaneous environmental benefits to 'carpooling' using the Scoober App, until I was actually pitching it for the third time. I received ample feedback on my last elevator pitch, ranging from how I have improved, how I present in a cohesive conversational style, and overall support for the idea. Although I would not claim it to be memorized or robotic, I do believe I have increased my comfortability in front of the camera and improved in pitching my ideas for that matter.

Book Review, Mindset: The New Psychology of Success, Carol Dweck

1) What was the general theme or argument of the book? The general theme of Carol Dweck’s novel, Mindset: The New Psychology of Success, is to facilitate a “growth mindset” in readers. Through years of experience and extensive research Dweck has devised a method to encourage success by providing easily implemented suggestions to improve the mindset of her readers. 2) How did the book, in your opinion, connect with and enhance what you are learning in ENT 3003?  As a Neuropsychology major I was thrilled to see a book relevant to my interests. Although Dweck’s book was germane, I found it to be a bit redundant to what I already know. 3) If you had to design an exercise for this class, based on the book you read, what would that exercise involve? This would be simple to do, because it is all about reframing one’s state of mind. An exercise could be just associating your own definitions for a “fixed mindset” and a “growth mindset.” Then applying personal ways to move one’s own curre...

20A – Growing Your Social Capital

Dani 1) Who they are and what their background is. They are an up and coming app developer. 2) Which 'slot' you are filling with each person (i.e., domain expert, market expert, supplier), and how the person fills the spot. App creation domain expert, they are necessary to get my business off the ground and mimic that of Uber. 3) A description of how you found the person and contacted the person. Was fortunate enough to take Creativity in Action with someone who created an app for their Catalyst project. 4) The nature of the exchange you have with the person -- what favor did they do for you? What is the return expectation? Pleasant and informative. 5) How will including this person in your network enhance your ability to exploit an opportunity? I would exploit their natural technological savviness to get my company going. Erwin 1) Who they are and what their background is. Recently graduated student at UF. 2) Which 'slot' you are filling with each person (i.e., domai...

Idea Napkin No. 2

1) You. I am myself, what you see is what you get, that being said I do not think in a business sense, I study psychology how the brain affects behavior, I prefer people as opposed to money and power. 2) What are you offering to customers? Making transportation on the UF campus more convenient and accessible to students. 3) Who are you offering it to? Anyone who needs a ride, has a smartphone, or a scooter. 4) Why do they care? University of Florida's campus is much more spread out than others, like Florida State, getting from opposite ends can be painstaking. Gainesville also has an extremely large scooter population that could be put to use easily. My company could put an end to all of those long walks, bike rides, or bus trips. 5) What are your core competencies? (as seen in what's your secret sauce post) 1. Listening with empathy- I know the difference between empathy and sympathy and the power of putting myself in other people's shoes. The ability to see other’s p...

Elevator Pitch 2

https://youtu.be/-Xeg2AqCZtA Reflection: I only received positive feedback from one person on my last Elevator pitch, so I tried to put the same good stuff into pitching the Scüber App.I aimed to be more direct and persuasive in improving my pitch this time. Looking forward to more feedback, in order to keep improving. Thanks enjoy,

18A – Create a Customer Avatar

My product could be used by anyone regardless of their age, weight, size, gender, socio-economic status, ethnicity, etc. Ultimately, mental health cannot conform to one type of person. For this assignment, we will make the avatar a college-aged student, who has had a very difficult year, and identifies as male, Jerry. Jerry was hit by a bus, rejected from his friend group, sexually assaulted and experienced family trauma in the past eighteen months. He called to make an appointment at his local university’s counselors but they are booked solid and cannot see him due to overflowing numbers of students seeking therapy. Because of this he kills himself, Jerry is dead, my product could have saved his valuable life because would not even have to seek out mental health counseling from any form because it would be an underlying cause looked at in every doctor’s visit, or chat with an advisor, or professor. By removing the issues from the daily life doesn’t remove them from one’s ps...

Assignment 15

To preface, my focus for this class has shifted based on interviews and new inspiration. The new “product” (in which I conducted these interviews off of) would be a plan to provide college volunteers with resources and a brief training, and have them volunteer in elementary schools teaching basic topics such as consent, physical and mental health. Report findings and draw conclusions: In each interview, I learned new ways to improve my production plan. My first interviewee was a little pessimistic about this idea. He questioned the practicality of college student’s participation and willingness to commit to training sessions. My second interview, who often volunteers at local schools, stated that this would revolutionize under-funded schools for children because more often than not the ratio of teachers to students is not equal, so most students rarely get one-on-one attention from the teacher. By adding these teaching aids each student could feel more valued because we don’t...

What's your secret sauce?

Five ways in which I think I have Human Capital: Listening with empathy- I know the difference between empathy and sympathy and the power of putting myself in other people's shoes. The ability to see other’s perspectives and allowing oneself to feel what others are experiencing is crucial to being respectful and treating others equally, regardless of who they are or what they are going through. Hardworking – My ability to see a problem and address it head on. As well as put my blood, sweat, and tears in to something I care about. Open-minded intellect – I’ve had some unconventional experiences that have shaped how I see the world and opened mind to so much more. But without other knowledge and constantly learning, being open-minded is useless it is all about what you do with it. Communication/personable - One of my strong suites in life has always been my ability to convey what my thoughts, feelings, and perceptions verbally. While there are many pe...
