23 What Makes You So Special?

Resources:
·      Environmental capital
o   ‘carpooling effect’
§  valuable because the environment matters
·      human capital
o   drivers
§  replicable
o   Demand for transportation
§  Valuable because it creates the market
·      social capital
o   meeting others that may have the same classes or study regimens
§  valuable because it is unique to college campus/ small town market targeted at a certain group/age range
o   Ample scooter parking
§  Valuable because UF campus is already set up for more scooters than cars.
o   Less traffic on campus in general
§  Valuable because of sharing rides it will generate less commotion on the roads in general.
·      financial capital
o   driver and passenger
§  reciprocal gains for both parties from this product
o   Simple service model
§  Easily replicable from things like Bird scooters, Lyft scooters, etc.
o    Affordable way to travel across a limited range
§  Valuable because most college students have the most difficult time navigating on campus because of the restrictive areas to leave one’s vehicle
·      Capabilities
o   Safety
§  Valuable because helmets can typically be stowed away under the seat of most scooters and can be optional for riders

After conducting a VRIN on each bullet point above I simplified each one to the most prominent VRIN for each. The results were that all the individual points work together pretty cohesively. I think the overall most valuable capital would be the small target population to transport college students to and from campus over short distances. Because of this it allows us to ‘carpool’ and meet others in an efficient transportation method.

  1. After reviewing all of your resources, I think your most valuable one might be the "simple service model," and it's similarity to other company models like Lyft and Uber. Because students can recognize and are familiar with how your service works, they are more likely to use it. As long as you are able to market your service well, students will more than likely use it.

  2. Hi Caroline!
I think that your idea is great and that you have excellent resources to implement it. UF definitely is scooter friendly and it would be useful and easy to get ahead due to the capacity and prevalence of scooters on campus. The abundance of scooters allows you to not spend a single dollar on inventory of scooters and rely heavily on the volunteering of workers. It is easier than Uber/ Lyft and quicker. Great thinking!
